Case Study - Building Regulations

The Problem

In recent years, there has been a significant growth in the number of complaints regarding noise, which by the early 1990s had trebled from the previous decade. According to research data, over a third of all UK households had experienced problems with noise. (Source: BRE Acoustics)

The Solution

The Government amended Building Regulations to introduce requirements for the testing of sound insulation between dwellings. This came into force on 1 July 2003.

These tests, which check whether builders are achieving the revised performance standards in new homes, should preferably be carried out by test bodies having UKAS accreditation.

Subject to the type of building construction, Building Control can require as many as one set of tests for every ten dwelling-houses, flats or rooms for residential purposes in a group or sub-group.

Using a UKAS-accredited testing laboratory will provide your business with confidence in their competence, and in turn the results they provide.
