What is UKAS?

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole body recognised by Government for the accreditation of conformity assessment against international standards. Our aim is to promote quality assurance to ensure that your customers have confidence and trust in the service you provide. We are a strong supporter of ‘self-regulation’ as opposed to Government Legislation, in order to cut the cost burden of additional red tape or unnecessary bureaucracy.

UKAS is a self-funded, non-profit distributing commercial business, advised by its members, such as DIUS and FSB. UKAS draws on a heritage of over 40 years experience of accreditation, and has a high and broad level of technical expertise across the majority of UK industry sectors.
