An email was sent to all our customers on Friday 1 August with respect to a new mileage rate for UKAS assessment teams.  For customers where we did not have an email address on our database a letter was sent instead. The content of this email/letter is as shown below.  

For some years now we have charged mileage to customers at the rate of 40p per mile based on HM Revenue and Customs statutory mileage rates, which are intended to cover both the cost of fuel and vehicle running costs.   As we are all aware, in recent months the price of petrol and diesel has risen substantially so that the rate of 40p per mile is no longer sustainable, and we have for some weeks been carrying the extra costs without passing them on to our customers. 

However, it is no longer viable for us to continue doing this and we regret to inform you that we will invoice customers at the rate of 50p per mile for all journeys on or after 1 September 2008 until further notice.

It is our intention to keep this rate under review as fuel prices continue to fluctuate.
