Changes to Accreditation for Stack Emissions Monitoring Organisations

Following the recent publication of CEN/TS 15675:2007 Air Quality –Measurement of Stationary Source Emissions- Application of EN ISO/IEC17025:2005 to Periodic Measurements, UKAS, in line with European Cooperation of Accreditation policy will be assessing organisations that conduct stack emissions monitoring against this technical specification. Accreditation will still be held to ISO/IEC 17025 however CEN/TS 15675 will provide clarification on interpretation of ISO/IEC 17025 for this sector. The implementation deadline for this technical specification is 31 st October 2009 and UKAS will be assessing to this technical specification at upcoming surveillance and reassessment visits. Following the 31 st October 2009, accreditation for stack emissions monitoring cannot be held if the requirements of CEN/TS 15675 have not been met, so any improvement action reports relating to this standard that are raised during surveillance and reassessment visits will need to have been addressed by accredited bodies no later than 30 th September 2009.
