UKAS Focus Days 2006
Use the 'you are here' feature to navigate between different sections of the site.

Two UKAS Focus Days on Raising the awareness of accreditation and UKAS’s promotion of accredited activities were held in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Winchester in November for customers.

Following analysis of the first year of the Customer Satisfaction Surveys, customers had indicated that one of the top priorities for UKAS to improve was in the area of raising the awareness of accreditation.   In order to address this, the format of a UKAS Focus Day, to which all of our customers were invited both to learn what UKAS was doing and to provide input into the future direction of the campaign, was developed and launched.

The day commenced with a series of presentations by UKAS to provide delegates with a broad picture of the activities UKAS has been engaged in over the last 18 months to raise awareness of accreditation in both the public and private sectors.   Input from delegates for the way forward was then compiled in a series of breakout sessions.

The UKAS presentations

Paul Stennett, Chief Executive – Welcome and Introduction
Caroline Finch, Operations Manager – Listening to the Customer
Jon Murthy, Marketing Manager – The Awareness Campaign
Malcolm Hynd, External Affairs Manager – Influencing Government
Jane Beaumont, Accreditation Director – What’s Developing ?

Customer Input

In the breakout sessions, delegates were invited to assist in the Awareness Campaign by identifying opportunities to raise awareness within their business sectors in which they would like to see UKAS involved.   This included events and publications where a UKAS presence would be beneficial.

Delegates were also asked what they felt they could do to help, for example by providing examples for case studies that could be used in promotional material.   A straw poll indicated that many customers would also welcome the creation of a suite of electronic brochures that they could download, augment with their own branding and distribute to their customers and potential customers.

Ideas for developing the website in a way that will attract government and business were also sought.

UKAS would welcome any further input from customers on the areas outlined above.   This should be sent to
