The Combined ILAC MRA Mark is a useful and easy way for Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) to demonstrate to the marketplace that the accreditation they hold is recognised under the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangement and hence their reports/certificates can be accepted around the world.  UKAS has recently signed a new agreement with ILAC allowing it to use the MRA Mark, and to sub-licence it to its accredited bodies.  Previously this was limited to testing, calibration & medical laboratories but the new agreement also now allows its use by accredited inspection bodies for the first time.

Laboratories who had signed the previous sub-licence agreement are currently being written to by UKAS and asked to sign the new agreement if they wish to continue using the Combined ILAC MRA Mark.  All other UKAS accredited laboratories and inspection bodies are free to apply to use the Mark at any time.

There are specific rules governing the use of this Mark that must be adhered to: These are published in the new agreement with further detail in ILAC Publication R7

An article relating to the new Combined ILAC MRA Mark agreement was published in the September 2015 (No. 78) edition of UKAS Update.  Further information on the use of the Combined ILAC MRA Mark and details of how to gain approval to do so can be found on the UKAS Website.
