» First Accreditation for the Gas Safety Certification Scheme
03 February, 2017
Capita Gas Compliance Services (CGCS) is the first organisation to have been accredited to the Gas Safety Certification Scheme. The scheme will serve as a benchmark of best practice for Gas Safe registered businesses and confirms the legal gas safety standards are met.
This accredited certification scheme, recognised by public and private sector organisations, will offer gas companies multiple benefits. In addition to helping to secure a competitive edge, UKAS accreditation of CGCS provides assurance for an organisation and employees against the risks of gas safety work.
Further CGCS certification benefits for businesses include:
- Customer peace of mind that the business will deliver a high quality service as it has gone through a rigorous and impartial third party assessment
- Recognition for good and safe gas work from the Gas Safe Register and the Audit Commission
- Reduced risks in relation to the delivery of safe gas work as the use of relevant accredited certification is recognised as a mitigating factor in legal processes.
Matthew Hickman, Head of Operations at Capita Gas Compliance Services, said: “The CGCS certification will give businesses that go ‘above and beyond’ for gas safety work the recognition they deserve among their customer base, potential new business opportunities and other organisations in the industry. We welcome businesses to get in touch to find out how they can achieve CGCS certification and look forward to working with them.”
Assessments for businesses looking to achieve CGCS certification will cover off a multitude of areas including; quality control and supervision policies, standard of gas work service warranties and an on-site gas work assessment of employees and contractors across the areas of the organisation’s scope of certification.
Paul Stennett, CEO UKAS, said: “Congratulations to all the staff at CGCS on achieving UKAS accreditation for its gas safety certification scheme. UKAS accreditation has an established reputation of raising standards and ensuring quality across a broad and diverse range of industry sectors. The scheme marks a new area of accreditation for UKAS. I am delighted that we are able to help generate confidence in the safety, quality, integrity and competence of gas compliance works covered within the scope of CGCS’ accreditation.”
Two organisations who have achieved CGCS certification are Blackpool Coastal Housing and Optimum Technical Services.
Mark Shepley, Services Manager of Blackpool Coastal Housing, said: “We are the first social housing landlord to be certified and this demonstrates that we and the gas contractor are providing a high standard of on-site and health and safety services in gas safety to our customers throughout the 5,000 properties we manage on behalf of Blackpool Council.”
Martin Watson, Managing Director of Optimum Technical Services, said: “Achieving certification demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent customer service and provides our clients with further confidence that our work is to the highest quality standards and is in line with industry best practice. CGCS certification shows we are not only Gas Safe registered and meet Gas Safety regulations and British standards, but that we operate to the highest standards of quality in this area.”
