UKAS was delighted to host the 37th EA General Assembly held in Windsor, as part of UKAS celebrating its 21st anniversary, as well as the 50th anniversary of accreditation in the UK. In perfect harmony with this, the EA General Assembly also voted on 50 separate resolutions covering a wide variety of different issues.

Amongst the key areas of discussion were:

  • The EA 2025 Strategy lead by SWEDAC’s Peter Strömbäck which will set the path for EA’s activity over the next five years. The latest draft of the strategy will be delivered in July 2016 for a 60 day comment period. This will lead to the presentation of the final draft strategy at the November 2016 EA General Assembly in Boras, Sweden.
  • The EA Executive announced that EA Executive Secretary Andres Steinhorst’s role has become a permanent appointment as an extension of his initial two-year contract.
  • The General Assembly, acting upon recommendation from the Executive Committee, agreed that ILAC or IAF approved documents that are mandatory for EA members as well as for EA shall be automatically adopted in the future.
  • The new Hungarian National Accreditation Body NAH was welcomed to their first EA General Assembly

EA looks forward to its next General Assembly hosted by SWEDAC in Boras, Sweden on 23 and 24 November 2016.
