External Affairs Advisor

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is seeking a full time External Affairs Advisor to strengthen the existing External Affairs team.

UKAS is the sole national accreditation body for the United Kingdom. In this capacity, UKAS underpins the UK quality infrastructure to create confidence in the products and services we all rely upon.

Reporting to the External Affairs Director the role will entail:

  • Supporting in the implementation of the external affairs strategy for raising the awareness and benefits of UKAS accreditation with Government departments and agencies, devolved administrations and other UKAS stakeholders
  • Developing and maintaining public policy intelligence gathering mechanisms for UKAS
  • Developing UKAS messaging, evidence base and communications material
  • Following up on potential opportunities resulting from government initiatives
  • Engaging with external stakeholders on specific projects
  • Representing UKAS in external meetings and events
  • Organising engagement events for UKAS stakeholders

The successful candidate for this role will have first-hand experience of working in or with government or a government agency as well as experience of creating and running campaigns and of gathering intelligence and managing engagement projects.

All candidates should have:

  • In-depth knowledge of policy making and government processes with a good understanding of political, economic, societal and technological trends
  • Good communications and representational skills
  • Ability to partner with stakeholders
  • Good organisational skills
  • Proactive and flexible approach with an ability to work in a rapidly changing landscape
