The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the sole National Accreditation Body for the United Kingdom and is appointed by Government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. UKAS has a national and international role in facilitating trade and underpinning trust and confidence in products and services we all rely upon.
UKAS is seeking an External Affairs Director to deliver its external affairs strategy and lead its existing External Affairs team to maximise the profile and influence of UKAS with Government and key stakeholders. Expertise and insight in external affairs is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with Government Departments, Agencies, Trade Associations and public bodies in a policy development and communications role. They will work with key internal stakeholders to lead on stakeholder engagement projects, policy development, consultations, communication events which require broad and extensive engagement with Government and other bodies.
Reporting to the Accreditation Director, the External Affairs Director will be an actively engaged member of the UKAS Executive Team, working closely with the CEO, Chairman, Exec and non-Exec team including other key stakeholders.
It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent communications and representational skills, to increase the sphere of influence for UKAS. They will be expected to engage with our stakeholders in a positive, balanced and well-informed manner.
