» Technical Notice on Notified Bodies, Conformity Assessment and the Mutual Recognition Principle

14 September, 2018

UKAS notes the publication of the next tranche of Government Technical Notices including the Notice on the proposals for trading goods regulated under the new approach in the event of a “No Deal” scenario. We welcome the clarity that this offers and particularly the confirmation that UKAS’s role as the national accreditation body will remain as it is now. Whilst we recognise the importance of developing contingency plans, UKAS firmly believes the most positive outcome for UKAS and its stakeholders will be to have a deal with the EU and mutually agreed transitional arrangements in place before 29th March . UKAS fully supports the work the government is doing to achieve that outcome.  The Notice makes clear that this remains the desired outcome.

We are considering the implications of the arrangements set out in the paper for UKAS and its stakeholders and will be communicating directly with our customers in due course after further consultation and analysis.
