14 April, 2016

UKAS is pleased to announce University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust’s Respiratory and Sleep service as the 40th healthcare service to receive accreditation.

As well as becoming the 40th service to achieve the accreditation standard, the Respiratory and Sleep unit, is also the very first facility of its kind to do so.

Kerry Tinkler, IQIPS clinical lead at The Royal College of Physicians said:

"I am thrilled to see the accreditation of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust our first Respiratory and Sleep service accreditation. The hard work and dedication of the team in Coventry and Warwickshire is now formally recognised through this award.

This is also another milestone for the IQIPS programme and I look forward to seeing other respiratory and sleep services achieving this important kite mark in the future."

Joanna Shakespeare, Respiratory and Sleep Service Manager at UHCW NHS Trust said:

"As a department we are really proud to be the first respiratory and sleep department to achieve the accolade of IQIPs accreditation. Our journey to accreditation has enabled us to facilitate the introduction and development of policies and procedures to continually assess, modify and improve. As a result we are now able to ensure that we continue to provide a consistently high quality, patient focused service.

Thank you to all our staff and teams who have supported or directly contributed to the successful completion of the process."
