The efficient delivery of policy and a further reduction of the burden of regulation are central ambitions for the new government. UKAS has worked closely with previous governments to help deliver policies in a cost-effective but reliable way by ensuring that standards required by government, business or communities are met. Greater use of accreditation could assist with the targets set by the new government for deregulation and public sector efficiency. This briefing note for Ministers is intended to provide useful background to assist the development of policy in the new Parliament.
