BRCGS Remote Certification Approach

18 September 2020

This bulletin is applicable to all CABs accredited for BRCGS Schemes.

Since the widespread Covid-19 transmission continues to have an impact on on-site certification audit arrangements, BRCGS has recently published a remote audit protocol that can be followed by Certification Bodies operating under IAF MD4 and IAF ID3 to enable the continuity of certification activities during this period.

The intention of this technical bulletin is to emphasize the endorsement by UKAS to the BRCGS086 remote audit protocol and its application to accredited BRC Global Standards for Food safety, Packaging Materials, Storage and Distribution, Agents and Brokers and Consumer Products.

Please, refer to the following link for further details on BRCGS086 Remote Certification Protocol.

UKAS supports the remote auditing approach in accordance with Scheme Owner requirements during this period of uncertainty; However, new accreditation applications or extensions to existing accreditation scope submitted by Certification Bodies will still require an on-site witnessed assessment and therefore this shall be applied when options for on-site monitoring are feasible.

Should you require any clarification on the above, please contact one of the following:
