» Collaborative Business Relationship Management System Certification (ISO 44001:2017)
UKAS is developing an assessment approach for the accreditation of certification for Collaborative Business Relationship Management System (ISO 44001). Accreditation will be to ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 (Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems) and will also take into consideration the expectation of ISO/IEC TS 17021-12:2020 Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems — Part 12: Competence requirements for auditing and certification of collaborative business relationship management systems. As this standard is a new area of accreditation, UKAS invited expressions of interest to participate in a pilot assessment programme which had the following predicted milestones:
Applications for accreditation – 01 June 2018
Planning and assessment of pilot applicants – August 2019 onwards
Announcement of accreditations – December 2019
Initial evidence collected from the pilot programme required UKAS to consult on the interpretation of requirements to establish a consistent view that delayed the planning of pilot assessments to the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2020. With the outbreak of the global Corona Virus pandemic it was not possible to complete assessment programme as planned and the pilot programme was suspended in response to the global crisis and requests from certification bodies of the need to focus on core business products.
It was planned that resumption of the pilot programme would be subject to the lifting of the social isolation policy implemented to contain the Corona Virus however with mounting evidence that industry has adapted well to remote working practice it was determined that the validation of a certification bodies competence and process to deliver ISO 44001 certification could be assessed via remote methods. UKAS notified pilot applicants as of August 2020 that the pilot suspension had been lifted and that remote assessment would be progressed for those wishing to continue.
Once all pilot applicants have responded UKAS will establish new programme dates for the announcement of accreditation to enable all pilot applicants to progress through the development project together. All certification bodies that have demonstrated competency to deliver accredited certification of collaborative business relationship management systems will be granted accreditation together at a date that is yet to be established.
