Private parking Code | New Programmes

About the programme

UKAS is working with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to support the development of a new Private Parking Code that has the potential to transform confidence in the private parking sector. The programme is designed to raise standards, strengthen transparency and support a more consistent experience for motorists, operators and stakeholders.

At the heart of the programme is a robust certification scheme that will give organisations a clear and credible way to demonstrate competence, compliance and commitment to good practice. Underpinned by ISO/IEC 17065, the scheme will provide independent assurance that helps build trust and supports higher standards across the market.

Associated Standards

  • ISO/IEC 17065
  • DLUCH private parking scheme

Current status

UKAS is preparing to launch a pilot accreditation programme for the Private Parking Scheme, creating a valuable opportunity for certification bodies to get involved at an early stage and help shape how accredited certification will be delivered in this important area.

By joining the pilot, certification bodies will work directly with the UKAS Development Team to influence the assessment approach, test practical application against ISO/IEC 17065 and the requirements of the Private Parking Code, and contribute to a trusted accreditation framework that supports long-term confidence in the sector.

Applications for the pilot programme are now open. Certification bodies are invited to register their interest and play a leading role in shaping this developing scheme.

Following completion of the pilot and finalisation of the assessment approach, UKAS will move towards granting initial accreditations, helping to establish a recognised mark of credible, independent assurance for the private parking market.
