Development Pipeline Snapshot
UKAS’ Development Team continues to progress a growing pipeline of work across a number of sectors including, sustainability, environmental reporting and emerging technical disciplines, reflecting continued demand for trusted accreditation in areas that are evolving rapidly across industry and society.
The work highlights the team’s role in engaging with stakeholder including HMG and regulators in identifying and developing accreditation solutions that support confidence, consistency and credibility in new and near-market areas. Current activity includes sustainability information assurance, carbon footprint verification and forensic testing applications.
Sustainability information assurance
One key area of focus is the development of accreditation for the validation and verification of ISO 14019-1:2026 Sustainability information Part 1: General principles and requirements for validation and verification. This supports the growing need for robust and credible assurance of sustainability information, helping organisations demonstrate the reliability of their reported data and commitments.
Carbon footprint of products
The team is also exploring accreditation for the validation and verification of ISO 14067:2018 Greenhouse gases — Carbon footprint of products — Requirements and guidelines for quantification. This work responds to increasing market interest in transparent, comparable and independently assured product carbon footprint information.
Forensic science and video evidence testing
In addition, UKAS is inviting expressions of interest in the accreditation of testing of video evidence to determine speed estimation under ISO/IEC 17025. This emerging area supports the requirements of the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code and demonstrates how accreditation can contribute to confidence in specialist technical testing.
Together, these areas demonstrate how the Development Team continues to ensure that UKAS is responding to emerging needs, support innovation and extend the value of accreditation into sectors where confidence and technical assurance are increasingly important.
