Modules in a forensic science process

On 1 January 2026, a new single international accreditation organisation, Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI), was established to bring together the work of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

As part of this process there is a gradual bringing together of the two organisations and harmonisation of branding and documents into the new single entity. This is resulting in a number of updates and changes to the titles and references of many documents relating to each of the previous organisations.

Following changes issued in June 2026 the guidance document ILAC-G19:06/2022 Modules in a Forensic Science Process has been removed from circulation. This has been replaced with a new document Global ACI-TECH-1-004 (G) Modules in a Forensic Science Process.

This change is a reference of document change only, with a number of associated changes relating to the change of organisation. There have been no substantive changes to the core content and guidelines provided within the document, and the new release remains a guidance document for use in the assessment of organisations to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO/IEC 17020:2012 and ISO 15189:2012.

UKAS is currently in the process of updating its publications and website to reflect this change.
