Project background
Digital identity is becoming a cornerstone of modern public and commercial services, helping people prove who they are and share trusted information quickly, securely and with confidence. The UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework creates a clear route for organisations to demonstrate that their digital verification services are safe, reliable and independently assured. Through this project, UKAS is supporting that ambition by assessing certification bodies against ISO/IEC 17065, helping ensure that digital identity providers can be certified in a consistent, credible and trusted way.
About the programme
The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) (now Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (DBIST)) have published the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework. This sets out the requirements for organisations to follow if they want to provide secure and trustworthy digital verification and/or attribute solutions.
Working with DSIT, UKAS is running a pilot assessment programme for certification bodies that wish to certify Digital verification assurance providers.
