Assessment Manager – Imaging Services

Salary £45,000 –  £50,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits

Delivering a world of confidence, UKAS is the National Accreditation Body for the United Kingdom. The Healthcare Team manages the accreditation of private and public organisations within the Healthcare Sector. Imaging services are accredited to the QSI standard which has been developed by the RCR and CoR. The work that the Healthcare team performs at UKAS determines the technical competence and safety of healthcare organisations delivering imaging services to clinicians and patients to encourage continual improvement of the quality of their services.

We are seeking a dynamic individual with professional experience of working within Imaging services, with an interest in quality improvement and an organised, robust and consistent analytical approach to working.

This Assessment Manager role supports increased accreditation activities in Imaging services.  Assessment Managers coordinate and manage UKAS assessments, being responsible for a designated caseload of organisations. This includes acting as the lead assessor (leading the assessment team and reviewing the quality management system) and technical assessing (confirming technical competence within his/her own area of expertise); supporting new customers to prepare for accreditation by providing technical and policy advice; coordinating the writing of assessment reports and recommendations and maintaining accurate customer records; training and supporting technical assessors.

The role may also interact with internal and external stakeholders and offers the opportunity to develop, with continued learning and also influence, shape and implement accreditation healthcare policy in the UK (full job description is available in the link below).

The successful applicant will:

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience and worked at a senior level in Radiography/Radiology services, with a relevant professional degree or equivalent.
  • Have a sound knowledge of the QSI standard, and ideally be involved in accreditation either at service level or as a trained UKAS Technical Assessor.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills – effective, balanced verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Exceptional organisational skills are required to ensure all tasks are recognised and prioritised to meet business and customer needs.
  • Ideally have some experience of internal auditing.
  • Have an awareness of accreditation and its broader application in healthcare / life sciences.
  • Have good IT skills – experience and use of both Microsoft Word and Excel.

The successful applicant will undergo a full induction into UKAS and will receive a bespoke training plan on commencement of employment.

This exciting and challenging role requires some travel within the UK with, on average, 2 overnight stays a month away from home.
