» BIM – ISO/IEC 17065:2012 accreditation for ISO 19650-2 certification – Application

11 December, 2019

UKAS will be undertaking a Pilot Assessment Programme for the accredited certification to ISO 19650-2 ‘Organization and digitization of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including building information modelling (BIM) — Information management using building information modelling — Part 2: Delivery phase of the assets’. The pilot assessment programme will carry out assessments against the requirements of ISO/IEC 17065:2012 Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services’. It should be noted that ISO 19650-2 does not in itself constitute a certification scheme’ as defined in ISO/IEC 17065. Consequently, any certification body wishing to be accredited must have developed a ‘process’ certification scheme taking cognisance of ISO/IEC 17067:2013 ‘Conformity assessment — Fundamentals of product certification and guidelines for product certification schemes’. The scheme will be evaluated as part of the assessment.

The pilot assessment programme is only available to those certification bodies currently UKAS accredited (ISO/IEC 17065) meeting the conditions described in the Pilot Terms of Reference document available by the link below.

All participants will need to submit a signed Pilot Terms of Reference form and the following supporting documentation to DevelopmentEnquiries@ukas.com by the 24th January 2020.

The major objective of the pilot assessment programme is to confirm the applicability of the relevant standards, identify any areas which need further guidance and to establish a proportionate and robust assessment approach. More information including the milestones for the pilot programme can be found in the Pilot Terms of Reference document.

Upon successful conclusion of the pilot assessment programme, UKAS will invite applications from other parties interested in becoming ISO/IEC 17065 accredited for ISO 19650-2 certification activity.
