01 August, 2018

UKAS has accredited the first organisations in the UK to certify organisation to the new Anti-Bribery Management Systems standard (ISO 37001).  Following a year-long pilot assessment programme, Bureau Veritas Certification Holding SAS - UK Branch and Intertek Certification Ltd have been successfully accredited against ISO/IEC 17021 for certifying to the international standard ISO 37001:2016.

Specifically aimed at bribery, ISO 37001:2016 sets out the requirements for management systems that prevent, detect and respond to bribery and comply with anti-bribery laws and voluntary commitments applicable to its activities.

Announcing the accreditations, David Compton, Development Project Manager at UKAS said: “Congratulations to Bureau Veritas Certification Holding SAS - UK Branch and Intertek Certification Ltd on achieving the UK’s first accreditation(s) for certifying anti-bribery management systems.  This marks a significant step in the fight against bribery as it enables organisations to demonstrate to both customers and regulators that they have robust, independently assessed anti-bribery systems in place.  As ISO 37001:2016 is an internationally recognised standard, holding UKAS accredited certification to the ABMS standard could help organisations maintain or expand their business, both in the UK and overseas.“
