» Pilot Programme for Accreditation of Verification Bodies for Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Maritime Transport – Announcement of Pilot Applicants

Following the call for expressions of interest on 25 November 2015 organisations were invited on 28 January 2016 to apply for the pilot programme for accreditation of verification bodies under ISO 14065 for the assessment of monitoring plans and the verification of emissions under EU Regulation 757/2015 on the monitoring, reporting and verification of carbon dioxide emissions from maritime transport. The closing date for applications was 31 March 2016. UKAS is pleased to announce that the following organisations will participate in the UKAS pilot assessment programme:

- SGS United Kingdom Ltd.
- Turk Loydu Vafki Iktisadi Isletmesi
- VerifAvia UK) Ltd.
On satisfactory completion of assessment by UKAS and on timely completion of the pilot assessment programme requirements, the applicants will be accredited to ISO 14065 for the assessment of monitoring plans and the verification of GHG emissions under Regulation 757/2015.
During the pilot programme UKAS will assess the competence, impartiality and performance capability of applicant organisations using the internationally recognised requirements standard for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies BS EN ISO 14065: 2013. On completion of the pilot programme, UKAS will announce the accreditation of successful verification bodies. The scheme will then be open to other organisations wishing to apply for accreditation. The pilot assessment programme will commence in July 2016 and be completed in January 2017.
