BEIS Industrial Strategy

UKAS welcomes the new Industrial Strategy published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. We are pleased that the Strategy recognises that close partnership working between Government and industry will be vital to meeting the key challenges to increased productivity and future prosperity. We are also pleased that the new £725m Challenge Fund Programme acknowledges the relationship between greater and more considered investment in research and innovation and in growing the economy.

UKAS accreditation provides confidence in the testing, calibration, inspection and certification services used by businesses and is vital to the success of domestic and international supply chains. In doing so, UKAS works closely with BSI, NPL and Regulatory Delivery as a key part of the National Quality Infrastructure. We now look to the Government to recognise how the assurance provided by UKAS and the Quality Infrastructure overall can underpin and drive forward innovation, investment and trade across the whole of the UK’s industrial landscape. This will be particularly important as the UK prepares to redefine its role on the global economic stage.
