Case study – 1g dynamics

1g dynamics was formed in 2017 from an alliance between two leading vibration industry experts. This alliance between Vibratech and CVMSL provided an even broader range of services to their customers with more experienced engineers available and better access to spare parts, all backed-up by a world class quality management system and excellent customer service.

1g dynamics may be a small UK based service provider, however it has an extensive team of engineers that offers complete global coverage.

An ambitious project during challenging times

Supporting major companies in a wide range of sectors within the Vibration Test Industry, a major part of 1gt dynamics’ strategy for growth was the establishment of their own in-house testing facility in 2019.  At the start of 2020 this test facility achieved UKAS accreditation.

When describing their experience on their journey to accreditation, Senior Test & Engineering Manager, Colin Gates explains there was an estimated six months of work required to complete the necessary changes.  Ultimately this was achieved inside three months following a huge effort throughout the extensive audit process.

“We underwent a great deal of auditing over this time, as we were not only being accredited by UKAS but also working with BSI to achieve certification to ISO 9001:2015.  These audits identified the improvements that would be necessary to gain these achievements and both UKAS and BSI were hugely instrumental in helping us achieve these requirements so quickly.”

Accreditation to underpin commercial strategy

Colin explained that gaining UKAS accreditation and BSI certification was strategically important in order to meet various specifications that would provide necessary confidence for all their customers worldwide.

“These accreditations are the foundation of our business and we have further ambitions to build on these, with Extensions to Scope planned in the near future.”

When asked about the effects of the current pandemic, Colin was clear that its impact had been felt significantly.

“So many plans of 1g dynamics have been delayed or complicated by COVID-19, however we were extremely pleased to be able to push ahead with the UKAS accreditation of the test house, as well as keep the test house running throughout the pandemic.  Our Assessment Managers, Mark Stevens and Stewart Barrowclough, were incredibly helpful and understood exactly what we were trying to achieve.  I really appreciate the effort they put in throughout this process as well as the combined efforts of the team at 1g dynamics.”

“It is essential to us to have these accreditations as we operate in a completely global marketplace that requires confidence in the quality and competence of everything that we do.  Accreditation also enables 1g dynamics to continue with an important revenue stream during challenging times.”

UKAS would like to congratulate 1g dynamics on the accreditation of their testing facility in such a quick time, we look forward to working with them in the near future as they progress their Extension to Scope.
