Celebrating 50 years of shared history

In 1967, The British Calibration Service (that would evolve into UKAS) approached AMETEK Land to be part of a consultation to develop a standard for non-contact temperature measurement.  AMETEK Land’s technical director was invited to sit on the technical panel whilst this standard was established.

Two years later in 1970, AMETEK Land’s Sheffield laboratory became the first in the UK to achieve BCS (now UKAS) accreditation for non-contact thermometry.

Fast forward to 2020 and UKAS is delighted to congratulate AMETEK Land on maintaining continuous accreditation for 50 consecutive years.

The Sheffield laboratory has now issued over 22,000 certificates to their customers, who include a diverse range of organisations from research establishments to Formula One race teams.

Justin Smith, Divisional Vice President Business Unit Manager at AMETEK Land commented “We’re very proud to be celebrating the 50th anniversary of our UK laboratory.  Our customers across many industries recognise the value of partnering with our UKAS-accredited laboratory, which operates to the highest international standards.”

Commenting from UKAS, Divisional Director – Technical Rob Bettinson congratulated AMETEK Land “50 years of accreditation is a remarkable milestone to achieve and recognises a resilient and enduring commitment to quality and UKAS is proud to be part of this history.”
