Background:
Jeff has extensive experience in accreditation, having spent more than 19 years with UKAS.
He holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from Sheffield University and a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors. Jeff’s career in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) sector began as an Analytical Chemist, where he first encountered accreditation during his laboratory’s journey to achieve ISO/IEC 17025 certification. This sparked a career-long interest in accreditation, assurance and conformity assessment.
Experience:
Now working independently, Jeff provides consultancy services to the TIC sector, drawing on his extensive expertise in accreditation and quality assurance.
While at UKAS, Jeff was involved in assessing organisations against a wide range of standards, including ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17043 and ISO 17034.
In his role as Operations Director, he was responsible for overseeing the delivery of accreditation services across all standards offered by UKAS, ensuring the highest levels of quality and technical robustness. Jeff also played a key role in strategic development, contributing to several digital transformation and process improvement initiatives that advanced accreditation practices and enhanced operational efficiency.
When not working:
When he’s not supporting the TIC sector, Jeff helps run the junior section at his local cricket club, providing both coaching and administrative support to young players.
He is also a keen board gamer, enjoying games with friends and family that combine strategy, creativity and fun.
