UKAS Academy Trainer
Background:
With a degree in Applied Chemistry with Analytical Chemistry and time spent as a chartered scientist and a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Paul has more 13 years of experience in water and environmental laboratories and as an applications specialist for analytical instrument manufacturers.
As well as being highly qualified in his field, Paul is very familiar with UKAS, having first been an Assessment Manager, then Accreditation Manager of the Environment section and ultimately Operations Director, spending 17 years with the organisation.
Experience:
In his roles as Head of Section and Operations Director, Paul has used his practical knowledge and experience of accreditation of all types to deliver both internal and external training courses for eight years.
Having ‘retired’ from UKAS, Paul maintains his competence and connections by working as an Independent Technical Assessor and as a trainer for the UKAS Academy.
He also actively participates in the UK Standing Committee of Analysts (SCA), where he is a member of the strategic board, and in the British Measurement and Testing Association (BMTA), where he is a member of the management committee and chair of the Policy & External Affairs sub-committee.
When not working:
Paul spends any rare spare time practising archery, he is a keen member of his local club and participates in competitions whenever he can.
