The Application of Flexible Scopes in Accreditation

UKAS’ Operations Director, Paul Greenwood, talks to the BMTA about flexible scopes of accreditation and how they provide a mechanism to allow accredited organisations to undertake new or modified activities within their scope of accreditation in the latest BMTA newsletter.

Degrees of flexibility have been introduced to improve the agility of the accreditation process.  Paul’s article discusses the responsibility that a flexible scope places on the Accreditation Body to demonstrate the flexibility is valid and how the bounds of flexibility are defined.
