Amendment to IQIPS Standard v2 2020 and publication of the IQIPS Standard v2.1 2023

The IQIPS Standard v2:2020 was published in October 2020 and replaced IQIPS Standard v1:2012 – Improving Quality in Physiological Services.

Since April 2021 all new applicants have been assessed to the 2020 standard, and since October 2021 transition assessments have been completed to the revised standard.

Following feedback from assessments and customers the Accreditation Clinical Advisory Group (ACAG) who own the standard requested that some minimal amendments be made to the new version to enhance clarity. This is to support their professional body membership towards successful engagement and continued involvement with accreditation.

IQIPS standard amendments

There is no significant change to the content of the standard. There has been deletion of duplicated criteria, amalgamation of the nonconformity standard statements and limited rewording to enhance clarity.

What does this mean?

From 20 March 2023 the IQIPS standard will be updated to the 2023 version, alongside the gap analysis document, on the UKAS website. The supporting guidance document is currently being revised by the ACAG and will be replaced in May 2023 to reflect the amendments.

  • Any new customers will be assessed against the IQIPS Standard:2023, however any work to date on meeting the 2020 requirements will cover this.
  • For those customers already transitioned to the IQIPS Standard:2020 there are no additional assessment requirements, as there has been no significant change to content. UKAS will automatically update schedules and certificates to reference IQIPS Standard:2023.
  • For those customers currently working on the IQIPS Standard:2020 transition there will be no change to the information and evidence needed to support transition, they will just be assessed against the updated version.
