This Technical Bulletin is applicable to all accredited management systems Certification Bodies and is to provide an update regarding recent changes to IAF document MD 5.
IAF MD 5: 2019 Determination of Audit Time of Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems was published on 7th May 2019 with a 1-year application period, meaning that by 7th May 2020 the new version must be fully implemented and in use by all accredited Certification Bodies.
The mandatory document has been updated to incorporate the time on site requirements of IAF MD 22 and so this Mandatory Document now includes Quality, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
Certification Bodies are advised to ensure they have considered all changes and any effect they have on procedures, competence and working practices.
UKAS Approach to Assessing Implementation
By the declared document application date of 7 May 2020, UKAS accredited CBs are requested to confirm in writing, to their UKAS Assessment or Case Manager, that they have taken action to consider the content of the revised document and have implemented any necessitated changes to their management system.
If any individual Certification Body has any concerns about the introduction of the updated MD they should firstly contact their Assessment or Case Manager.
